Guidelines for Teachers


Dear Teacher,

SkyWatch Contest is a European Astronomical Contest using Robotic Telescopes usually used by professional astronomers.
  1. There are three (3) age categories:
    (a) Under 15 years old,
    (b) Between 15 and 18 years old.
    (c) Adults

  2. Students can work individually or in pairs.

  3. Students have to write up a project in PowerPoint format with the maximum 15 slides. The project should be in one of the five (5) Topics of the Contest.

  4. The deadline for submitting projects is 30th of September 2005.

  5. The authors of the first 100 submitted projects will be awarded SkyWatch caps.

  6. The 10 winners in each age category will have the privileged to make their own request for observations and will be asked to perform a small additional task to extend their projects for the Second Phase.

  7. The top 3 winners in each age category will be invited to Athens to be present at the Award Ceremony which will take place between the 21st and 25th of November 2005. Students will attend with an accompanying teacher. The travel expenses of the invited participants will be covered from the project budget.

  8. The winners of each age category will receive a telescope. The authors of the second and third best project of each age category will be awarded a digital camera.
